It may sound like a silly question, but… what is Christmas? I suspect that asking this question to a 2 year old, 10 year old, a teenager, a parent, and a grandparent will bring very different answers. The perspective that comes with age certainly plays a role in that! Still, I think this shows us how - somewhere along the way - the modern Christmas  holiday has strayed from its true meaning. We’ve lost track of the reality that Christmas began with a question. A simple, yet very deep question:
God, where are you?
Christmas is God’s amazing and beautiful answer: Here with you. In this life. I’m not a far off, distant being; I’m right here with you. I know, I understand what its like to be you. I understand your joy, your suffering, and everything it means to be human. I know what its like to live a human life. And I want to be right here - with you.
Christmas is God’s powerful desire to be in close relationship with us. Every one of us.

As Christmas approaches, consider joining us at Grace-St. Paul’s UMC as we re-explore the story of Christmas: God with us.

Experience the joy God intends as we Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More, and Love All this holiday season!

Join us in THE ADVENT CONSPIRACY!  We’d love to see you!
